Fabien Delahaye, 5th in the Solitaire du Figaro 2021
End clap on the Solitaire du Figaro this Thursday, September 16 for Fabien Delahaye who crossed the finish line in Saint Nazaire in 5th position at 9:36 p.m. and 36 seconds.
Leaving Roscoff on Sunday September 12, he will have spent 4 days 5 hours 36 minutes and 36 seconds at sea. A long last stage, marked by the swell, the greyness, the mist during which Fabien Delahaye can congratulate himself on having always sailed at the forefront.
Always placed during this Solitaire 2021, the skipper of Groupe Gilbert has shown great regularity as evidenced by his very fine 5th place in the general classification (before the jury).
The stage was very long. However, it went faster than expected. The big key moment was the passage of the depression after the Fastnet, the fleet dispersed well in a very short time. We couldn’t see anything at all, we were in the greyness, the rain, the mist… And in the end we find ourselves all in bundles again afterwards.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the way I sailed. There were long sections with very open strategic choices. I never had big winners but I stayed consistent throughout the race and had very good speed phases.
I’m gaining places in the general classification so that closes my Solitaire well. I was hoping for better but I had some shortcomings and when you look at the podium, there are no regrets to be had. They were really a cut above, untouchable. For my part, my consistency paid off, I finished in the top 5, it’s a great operation. It was a beautiful Solitaire.
